The Pregnancy Lounge Team
Welcome to The Pregnancy Lounge, where our 4-week antenatal course is thoughtfully designed by two local midwives still active in practice. We want you to feel confident from day one, which is why we can give you immediate access to our free digital content covering the 1st trimester. Upon booking, you will then have access to our second trimester content and can explore our evidence-based information pages. During our friendly sessions, you'll receive helpful handouts and have the perfect opportunity to meet and chat with other parents-to-be in a relaxed and supportive setting. Our community continues long after the course, too! You'll gain access to our exclusive Facebook group for ongoing support, helpful tips, and real-life advice whenever you need it.

Hi, I’m Sophie, I'm one of the midwives here at The Pregnancy Lounge, with 5 years NHS experience, spanning across two Trusts, working primarily on the Labour Ward and also as a Labour Ward Co-ordinator.
A bit about me: I grew up in a military family and attended boarding school with my younger brother. Before I became a midwife, I worked as a carer for the elderly, which was such a rewarding experience and really shaped my passion for supporting others.
When I’m not working, home life is happy chaos! I have a wonderfully blended family including my husband, our baby daughter, and my teenage stepdaughter. We also have two lively cockapoos, aptly named Phoebe and Joey (yes, like the Friends' characters!), who keep me busy with dog agility. When I'm not chasing after them, you'll find me enjoying dog walks, going to the gym, taking my daughter to swimming and sensory classes, and cherishing quality time with my family.
The idea for The Pregnancy Lounge grew from a deep passion for supporting families, shaped by both my professional experience as a midwife and my own recent journey through pregnancy and parenthood. Evidence supports that good-quality, consistent antenatal education leads to better labour and birth outcomes for mothers and babies.
I often found that expectant parents were either overwhelmed by conflicting information or left feeling unprepared for the life-changing transition into parenthood. That’s why I felt driven to create something different alongside Bek: honest, evidence-based antenatal education delivered by experienced midwives in a warm, supportive space.
Our goal is to empower families with the knowledge, confidence, and the reassurance they deserve as they step into this new chapter of their lives.
Hi, my name is Rebekah (Bek) one half of The Pregnancy Lounge!
Born in South Africa, but moving back as a baby to the East Midlands, I spent my early years growing up as an only child within a large extended family. As I reached adulthood I met my husband and relocated to Somerset with our young daughter, whilst expecting our second, and have enjoyed countryside living the past 14 years.
When my second daughter was a baby, we began fostering and had the pleasure of providing a home for 7 foster children over a course of 6 years, until their future homes were found. I also ran a childminding service for local families and helped set up a playgroup in the area.
I eventually began my Midwifery studies in 2020, where I met Sophie! I quickly fell in love with the job and realised my passion for continuity of care, particularly when working with vulnerable families.
In 2023, when I moved Trusts I began to work as part of an integrated service. Here I manage my own caseload as part of a community team, work clinically providing antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, and also support the bereavement team. I am passionate about patient centred care which is a theme woven throughout our classes.
Lack of funding and cuts to local services providing informed antenatal classes resulted in conversations between Sophie and I… and so The Pregnancy Lounge was born!
In my spare time I enjoy hikes with friends, our children and our fox terrier! Watching and supporting my daughter playing football (spending countless hours driving all over the South West and beyond to do so!) and adventuring in our Camper “Revie” named after a certain Yorkshire legend!
